Listening Notes

Listening Notes is an evolving online extension of Sirenian Drift: Archival Material from a Future River, published in SIRENS – Follow the Water, Follow the Sound, edited by Fabienne Liptay and Giuseppe Di Salvatore and published by Diaphanes. This page gathers the sonic and performative life of the project: the sound composition, the graphic score, future performances, moving-image works, and related materials as they continue to unfold beyond the printed chapter.

Listen to the River

A sound composition built from river-surface recordings, hydrophone layers, voices, and resonant materials. The recordings remain open, like the river itself: shifting, incomplete, carrying traces rather than proof.

Graphic Score / Performances

This score is open to future interpretations and live performance. Documentation of performances, recordings, and related activations will be added here over time.

Future Works
This page will also host excerpts from future moving-image works and other continuations of Sirenian Drift.

Notes Toward an Unclassified Species

I found the first trace in my mother’s archives—

The first trace emerged through archival fragments, field listening, and speculative notation. What appears here is not a document of certainty, but a way of following a signal through water, sediment, contamination, memory, and vibration.

A sound composition built from recordings—river surface and hydrophone layers.

The recordings remain open, like the river: shifting, incomplete. · Immersive
